30. -nen words

There are many words in the Finnish language which end in -nen. 
Many Finnish surnames also end in -nen. 
Often words that end in -nen mean something small, like insects or small birds.
Often they are adjectives.

hyttynen                    mosquito
ampiainen                  wasp
kyyhkynen                dove
varpunen                   sparrow
punainen                   red
sininen                      blue
nainen                       woman
ihminen                    human, person
Lahtinen                   a common Finnish surname
Nieminen                  a common Finnish surname

These words are inflected in their own way: 
NEN is replaced by SE + the proper ending
hyttysen, kyyhkysen, naisen, Lahtisen                the genitive form ends in -sen
hyttyset, kyyhkyset, naiset, Lahtiset                    the plural form ends in -set
hyttysessä, kyyhkysessä, naisessa, Lahtisessa    -ssa form ends in -sessa or -sessä
hyttysestä, kyyhkysestä, naisesta, Lahtisesta        -sta form ends in -sesta or sestä
hyttyseen, kyyhkyseen, naiseen, Lahtiseen            into-form ends in -seen
The partitive form ends in sta or stä.
hyttystä, kyyhkystä, naista, Lahtista                      

The one commonality between these endings is the additional S. All but the partitive form also have an additional E. 

Katson ja puussa istuu kolme kyyhkystä ja viisi varpusta.
He tulevat huomenna punaiseen taloon.
Valkoisessa talossa asuu presidentti.
Malarialoinen elää hyttysessä.
Mies rakastaa naista, mutta nainen ei enää rakasta miestä.
Ruotsissa ihmiset puhuvat joka päivä ruotsia, mutta kyllä he osaavat puhua myös englantia.
Myös Lahtiset muuttavat huomenna Poriin.
